[Fixed!] AdBlock Plus Preventing Popup Domination From Working

I recently purchased Popup Domination and installed it into my blog, only to discover that it worked in Google Chrome, but not Firefox. Neither the WordPress dashboard nor the front-end pop-up would work.

I disabled W3 Total Cache, which I’ve heard causes problems with Popup Domination. No cigar.

I started Firefox in Safe Mode. Lo and behold, it worked! So one of my extensions was causing the problem. I decided to take a shot in the dark and disabled AdBlock Plus. BINGO!

Well, now that I figured out the problem, I was determined to make sure that other people’s ad blockers weren’t blocking MY popups!

I found the list of URL patterns that AdBlock Plus was using, and discovered that the pattern was:

/wp-content/plugins/popup-domination/*

So my solution? I deleted the plugin, renamed it to “pop-dom” and reactivated it. AdBlock Plus was now powerless against it!

So change yours to something other than “popup-domination” and that will ensure that current ad blockers aren’t able to recognize Popup Domination!

Note: You can’t rename your existing plugin folder. I tried that. You have to delete and upload it with a new name.
